Policy and prayers, thoughts and change

I wake up every morning during the school year praying that today won’t be the day my sister has to be put in a position to block her students from rapid fire in a place that should be safe.

I pray for my friend's children who are in elementary school and have to learn how to react in case of a shooting at 5 years old.

I pray for the mothers and fathers who are still required to send their children to school a day after reading about unbearable tragedies.

I pray for our country in events like these that we can come together to find a solution instead of blaming the red or the blue.

Even if you strongly believe this is just the gun's fault, consider if this could be so much deeper than the 2nd Amendment.

This is addiction.

This is struggling with mental health.

This is depression.

This is the lack of resources within public education.

Yesterday, our country lost 19 CHILDREN and 2 ADULTS. We can repost, share certain politicians beliefs, or debate about gun laws in specific states, but no real change will happen unless we go to the root of the problem.

Can we have thoughts and prayers as well as policy and change?

Go to local schools and ask if they need donations for more better resources.

Stop someone if you see or hear them bullying another.

Do research on how we, as a society, can contribute to the understanding of mental health and addiction.

Encourage your local politicians to fight for specific safety measures that wouldn't allow a potential gunman to gain access to a building full of children.

I am heartbroken that there is so much evil in our world, but we have to stop fighting about policies and politics and expect change. Change can only be achieved if America stands together.

Pray for the victims families.

Pray for America.
